Putting the board packet together eats most of a day, merging files, fixing page numbers, checking that nothing's missing.I'm still chasing people for their reports the day the packet is supposed to go out.Finding a time everyone can meet takes more chasing than it should.I don't know if we'll have quorum until people show up.I ask for RSVPs more than once and still get a few the morning of.If someone asked me who's attended consistently this year, I'd have to count it by hand.People show up not having read it, and we spend the meeting going over what was already in the packet.When a board member wants last year's minutes or the bylaws, they email me and I go dig it up.People can't find documents we already sent them, so they ask again.When someone leaves the board, I'm not totally sure what they can still open.New board members get a packet and a conversation, and after that they're mostly on their own.I couldn't tell you offhand who's in year one and who's coming off the board.Conflict-of-interest forms take weeks, and I'm the one following up on who hasn't sent theirs back.What happens in committee stays in committee, the full board gets a verbal summary.I rebuild the same numbers for every board meeting instead of just updating last time's.
